The main bioactive constituents of rhubarb root are anthraquinone derivatives that can inhibit cellular proliferation, induce apoptosis, and prevent metastasis. In addition, rhubarb root extract exhibits nephroprotective, anti-diabetic and lipid-lowering properties.
