Strontium Citrate

Strontium plays an important role in supporting the normal structure and function of the skeletal system. Nearly all strontium in the body occurs in bone, teeth, and connective tissue. Strontium supports the strength of the bone mineral matrix that gives rigidity and density to calcified tissues such as bones and teeth.
Research shows that strontium has a unique dual ability to decrease bone resorption (the breakdown of the bone mineral matrix), while enhancing bone formation. Strontium provides these supportive effects by inhibiting the activity of osteoclast cells responsible for removing minerals from bone, while inducing the activity of osteoblast cells that form and maintain bone. Strontium may also support bone growth by promoting the production of collagen and other bone matrix proteins.

I am probably Dr S’s patient who has taken Strontium Citrate the longest - from when he first opened his practice in Del Mar. I had the bones of a 90 year old lady, they told me at that time. I moved up into the Osteopenia range after starting Strontium. Dr S then said they had discontinued the testing of Strontium Citrate in Europe and wondered about my continued use beyond their testing?? I told him I would like to continue, so I have - being faithful to take 2 each morning, on an empty stomach, along with my thyroid pill. I had my bone density test done on April 25, 2025. From 4.4.23 to 4.25.25 my AP Spine improved 4.2% and my Femoral neck 5.5%. Both of these areas remain in osteopenia and my AP Spine (L1-L4) is categorized normal. I am 86 years old. Nancy DeBrincat 😊
